Surya Shibir is the maiden conception of Shri Nilkanth L. Bhide, retired Electrical Engineer. Nilkanth, adorably called "Anna" , envisioned the camp to be the grooming grounds for making a better child and thus a better citizen. Says he "By running Surya Shibir I want to re-ignite  the flame of curiosity in every child's heart."

Feels Anna " There is a fear that this generation may will have to spend their  entire lives within the four walls of the home and an office without ever experiencing thrills of a boat ride, a trek through dense vegetation, climbing up a rocky hill, staying in a tree house or walking amongst the clouds. I want to provide these children with all these possibilities"

" The other idea is to teach and demonstrate the re-use of wastage for our own benefits. That is the only way pollution can be reduced and environmental properties are conserved."

To bring in to the realities this vision and thoughts of AnnaSurya Shibir is organized  during the holidays and he himself keenly looks in to the up-keeping and improvement of the Surya Shibir site.
